WHO WE ARE

WHAT IS YFK?

Youth Forum For Kashmir (YFK) is Pakistan’s first pro-Kashmir, registered and nonpartisan International lobbying group led by young Kashmiris and Pakistanis. The group is a platform that unites the youth in Indian-occupied Kashmir with their counterparts in Pakistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and the world at large.

The YFK is working to ensure justice to Kashmiris living under Indian-military occupation and also to ensure that the governments of Pakistan and India, and the international community, keep Kashmir at the top of their policy agendas.

YFK is the first platform in the region to bring the youth of Pakistan, Azad Kashmir, and Indian-occupied Kashmir on a single platform. Our membership is also open to young Indians who support an end to Indian military occupation of Kashmir. We believe the young of the world, and the global peace movement, should come together to become the voice of the defenseless Kashmiris, a peaceful people living in one of the most beautiful spots on earth. Every morning, Kashmiris face more than half a million foreign soldiers who operate outside Indian laws. Thousands of Kashmiri families spend life in refugee camps. YFK works on identifying and meeting the needs of Kashmiris displaced by repeated Indian military operations in the occupied valley.

WHO CREATED YFK?

YFK was born as an idea developed by a group of young Kashmiris and Pakistanis. The idea was conceived in Pakistan. This country is a natural base for Kashmir freedom movement. It is the first country in the world to host the largest population of Kashmiris displaced by Indian military operations before they dispersed worldwide. Pakistan’s former Acting President, Care-Taker Prime Minister and Chairman of the Senate, Muhammad Mian Soomro, founded YFK to serve the cause of Kashmir freedom. Kashmiri activists and human rights defenders in Pakistan and in the Kashmiri diaspora encouraged him to assume the position of YFK Patron-in-Chief. His name and goodwill help this volunteers-based organization to carry out its work.

WHO FUNDS YFK?

YFK is operating, thanks to the generosity of prominent Pakistani and Kashmiri businessmen and philanthropists. Most of them choose their involvement in YFK’s projects at various levels of commitment. We rely on their continued support and leave it to them to choose to make public their association with YFK. Additionally, beyond the ‘seed money’ that we received, we intend to run the different aspects of our operations through fundraisers.

WHAT IS YFK DOING?

YFK is involved in lobbying to bring Kashmir to the top of the agendas of Pakistan, the United Nations, India, and the international community. YFK is training and grooming young Kashmiris, Pakistanis, Turks, Iranians, Americans, Chinese, Indians and others from around the world to be a voice for Kashmiri freedom in the international media.
