News: JKLF Chief Yasin Malik announces hunger strike unto death in New Delhi jail
Hurriyat leader and chief of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail after being sentenced to life imprisonment, has announced a hunger strike until death, his family said on Friday.
Sharing Malikâs letter announcing the fast unto death from July 22 in Tihar Jail against the âinjusticeâ being meted against him in Indian courts, JKLF Media Cell tweeted a video of Malikâs sister and mother narrating what the incarcerated Hurriyat leader has mentioned in the letter.
âYasin Malik said to his mother I made deal with Allah and His Prophet (PBUH), pray for me. He said I will remain on hunger strike as long as I am alive. Further said to his mother, you are now in consign of Allah and his Prophet (PBUH), and me alsoâ the tweet read.
Citing Malikâs letter, the sister of the JKLF chief said, âwhy is he not being called to court for questioning like every other prisoner, and if they can call people from outside for questing why not me.â
Malikâs letter was also shared on Twitter by his wife Mushaal Hussein Mullick. âHe has left his case to God Almighty; this world doesnât belong to Kashmiris Stand4YasinMalik,â she tweeted.
Meanwhile, in a Tweet on Friday, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif said that the continued persecution of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik by India is a âpart of a plan to deprive the people of Kashmir of their representative voicesâ.
The Pakistan PM voiced his concerns over what he termed âfabricated casesâ and sham trials of the Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders by India.
The continued persecution of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik by India is part of a plan to deprive Kashmiris of their representative voices. From fabricated cases to sham trial, impunity with which India is violating human rights of political workers should alarm rights defenders.
