YFK organized a seminar titled, “Highlighting the Resilience of Kashmiri Women in IIOJK” in collaboration with SZABIST Campus in which the Kashmiri women’s realities in IIOJK were described and prizes were distributed among the winners of Women’s Day Documentary Competition.
Ms. Mushaal Hussein Mullick spoke at SZABIST about the tragic experiences of Kashmiri women in IIOJK and the ironic resilience and strength that arose within them after facing heinous atrocities by Indian authorities.
Ms. Farzana Yaqub, former Minister AJK, highlighted the Konan-Poshpura rape incident which is one instance of rape being used as a tactic by India. She reiterated that AJK and Pakistan will continue to speak Kashmiri women in IIOJK because it is a responsibility not a burden.
Ms. Laila Zuberi, the TV actress, gave the message of confidence and strength to the struggling women living in IIOJK during the seminar at SZABIST.
Ms. Fajer Rabia Pasha has appreciated the resilience of Kashmiri women despite their continuous objectification and ever increasing oppression by Indian authorities.
Mr. Zaman Bajwa, Executive Director YFK, highlighted the need for Pakistani digital content to propagate the reality of the people of IIOJK especially the sufferings of women which are largely ignored by the media.
Dr. Huma from SZABIST and Dr. Wajid, HOD Media Studies, articulated that Kashmiri women are facing a double burden of bread winner and caretaker in the absence of their male members of the family.
