Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mazari received in her office today relatives of Kashmiri political prisoner Asiya Andrabi, who is facing a possible life sentence in an Indian court in a sham trial.
Andrabi is a renowned human rights activist and founder of pro-freedom group Dukhtaran-e-Millat in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Her son Ahmed bin Qasim, and nephew Dr. Mujahid Gilani, briefed the Minister on the case and the conditions in which Indian authorities are detaining Asiya Andrabi at the infamous Tihar prison in New Delhi. Tihar prison has a bad reputation in Indian and international human rights circles.
Minister Dr. Mazari is holding a press conference at the Press Information Department today with the Andrabi family members.
