World Teachers Day: Pakistan’s ‘Kashmir Resolve’ Highlighted To Youth
Our Special Correspondent
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—A young female activist from Indian-occupied Kashmir appealed to teachers across Pakistan to include Kashmir in their curriculum taught to young generations of Pakistanis. The impassioned appeal, made by Shaista Safi, who is from Baramulla, came during a convention of Pakistani teachers and students in Islamabad.
Safi was a delegate from Youth Forum For Kashmir (YFK) who participated in a major event organized by the Nazriya Pakistan Council (Trust) in the capital. The event brought together teachers, students and opinion leaders from across Pakistan.
The convention was titled “Role of Teachers in Character Building of Students” organized by NPCT in relevance of World Teachers Day. YFK members included Shaista Safi, Muhammad Hassaan, Mariah Atiq, Ghulam Shabbir, Zaman Bajwa, Misbah Maryam and others. Chief Guests of the ceremony were Senator Razina Alam Khan, Chairman Sultana Foundation Dr. Naeem Ghani and Former Senator Akram Zaki. Speakers shed light on the criticality of the role of teachers in determining the true potential of their students. They also stressed upon the need of giving teachers their due respect and stature in the society.
While addressing the conference, Shaista Safi emphasized on the fact that primarily teachers should focus on the ideological foundations for character building of the students. Message should be conveyed to them that the Two Nation Theory will only be completed in full spirit until our jugular vein is liberated from the clutches of Indian-occupation. Teachers should not spread hatred just let the youth know that who is friend to us and who betrayed us.
