ISLAMABAD—YFK–International Kashmir Lobby Group (Youth Forum For Kashmir) in collaboration with the National Press Club (Camp Office Rawalpindi) organized a Round Table / Seminar titled “19 July 1947: Kashmir Votes For Pakistan”, on occasion of the day of Kashmir’s Accession to Pakistan, at National Press Club (Camp Office Rawalpindi).
On this day in 1947, Jammu & Kashmir had ideologically decided to join Pakistan. They said that the Muslims of Kashmir took this decision of accession to Pakistan to protect their religious, economic and political rights. They insisted that the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir conflict can only guarantee lasting peace in the region and the world as a whole. Speakers also highlighted that how this resolution played a key role in Indian panic that led to Indian invasion of Kashmir. They urged that the Govt. of Pakistan should give diplomatic, political and legal weight and importance to the July 19 resolution. It was passed by the representatives of Kashmiri people at the time.
