Kashmir Votes For Pakistan: 83rd Accession Day Marked Across The Region
ISLAMABAD, 19 July 2014 – Kashmiris and Pakistanis marked the Accession Day across three regions: Indian-occupied Kashmir, Azad (Free) Kashmir, and Pakistan. Official ceremonies took place in Islamabad and in Muzaffarabad, capital of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Activists from Youth Forum For Kashmir-YFK joined the founder and members of Jammu & Kashmir People’s Party in a demonstration in front of the National Press Club in Islamabad.
Sardar Muhammad Khalid Ibrahim said Kashmiris joined Pakistan one month before Pakistan’s independence, and India invaded Kashmir after this decision.
Young YFK activists from Kashmir and Pakistan carried placards emphasizing the choice that Kashmiri representatives had made eighty-three years ago.
The event is part of a growing trend among young Pakistanis and Kashmiris to campaign to make Kashmir a central pillar of Pakistan’s and the region’s agenda.
The YFK is a grassroots lobbying group led by young Kashmiris and Pakistanis working to ensure justice to Kashmiris living under Indian military occupation.
