Kashmir Black Day Conference: Speakers Declared India Responsible To Resolve Kashmir Conflict

ISLAMABAD—YFK – International Kashmir Lobby Group along with Kashmiri & Pakistani youth on 27th October marked 69th anniversary of Indian invasion on Kashmir as Black Day by organizing a Conference in National Library Islamabad titled “100-day Curfew: India’s Responsibility to Resolve Kashmir Conflict”.
Ms. Fereeha Idrees, Senior Media Professional & Host said that private media nowadays works only on ratings, we still use 20 years old pictures, songs and graphics on Kashmir. She posed a question on media that which channel has on aired new updated documentaries on Kashmir? She said that Kashmiris look towards media of Pakistan to highlight their sufferings. She also said that Indian media isn’t showing reality, they are so much concerned about Kashmir but spreading lies.
Mr. Murad Saeed, Member National Assembly of Pakistan said that we had to create a narrative on Kashmir but we always focused on counter narratives. India is an occupier, killing Kashmiris but still is successful in setting their narrative by lobbying internationally. He said that Pakistani youth is powerful in conveying messages to world as we saw latest examples of Chai-Wala & Push-Ups. Hopefully they will make world aware of Indian atrocities in Kashmir as well. He also said that after the martyrdom of Burhan Wani, I see a new spirit in Kashmir movement that is hopeful.
Mr. Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Chairman Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee & PM’s Special Envoy on Kashmir to the UNHRC, Geneva and famous celebrity and film star Mr. Hamza Ali Abbasi joined the conference via video link.
Mr. Awais Leghari shared his experience & efforts for Kashmir and shared the details of his meetings with UNHRC officials and other dignitaries. He appreciated YFK on highlighting the Kashmir conflict effectively.
Mr. Hamza Ali Abbasi condemned the more than 100-day curfew in Indian-occupied Kashmir and the ongoing brutalities by occupied forces there. He said that Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory but Balochistan is a legitimate part of Pakistan so we should not talk on Balochistan but on Kashmir. He said that everyone is “Aazad” (Free) in AJK but everyone is slave in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Other speakers included Ms. Nabila Irshad, Leader Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party (JKPP) and Sahibzada Zulfiqar, Pakistan Peoples Party AJK (Youth Wing). YFK also showed short films on Burhan Wani and on Indian brutalities in Kashmir.
Youth Forum For Kashmir (YFK) is Pakistan’s first pro-Kashmir, registered and nonpartisan International lobbying group led by young Kashmiris and Pakistanis working to ensure justice to Kashmiris living under Indian-military occupation.
