Kashmiri & Pakistani Nation Will Defeat Their Enemies All Together: Shaista Safi, Addresses At Peshawar Press Club
By Our Special Correspondent
PESHAWAR, Pakistan—The Dec. 16 terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar resonated far and wide across Indian-occupied Kashmir, where people have deep affinity with Pakistan.
A delegation of youth from Indian-occupied Kashmir and rest of Pakistan visited Peshawar to meet some of the families of the martyrs, and show the people here pictures of vigils and funeral prayers in absentia from different parts of the occupied territory.
They laid a floral wreath at Army Public School, met some student families, and unveiled a series of pictures at Peshawar Press Club that show how Kashmir reacted to the Dec. 16 tragedy.
The visit was organized by Youth Forum for Kashmir, YFK, Pakistan’s largest pro-Kashmir lobbying group led by young Kashmiris and Pakistanis.
The floral wreath was placed in front of the school, where the walls have turned into a living memorial to the 142 martyrs of the terrorist attack. Next to the flowers, a YFK message read: “We Will Never Forget.”
YFK activists, all young men and women, also placed two banners on the school walls, in Urdu and English. The banners read: ‘Kashmiris stand by Pakistan. The Pakistani nation will defeat its enemies.”
At Peshawar Press Club, young Kashmir activist Shaista Safi, from Baramulla, Indian-occupied Kashmir, showed to the reporters enlarged pictures from across Kashmir. In one picture, senior Kashmir freedom leader Syed Ali Gilani was seen leading funeral prayers in absentia for Pakistani martyrs of Dec. 16 attack. In another picture, Mirwaiz Omar Farooq was leading similar prayers in absentia. There were scores of pictures of funeral prayers from different regions. Then there were pictures of young Kashmiri doctors observing a moment of silence in hospitals in Srinagar for the martyrs of Peshawar attack.
The remarkable thing about these pictures is that most young Kashmiris participated in these vigils and funeral prayers in public places in full view of Indian occupation soldiers who usually take pictures of those showing sympathy to Pakistan.
The YFK is a grassroots lobbying group led by young Kashmiris and Pakistanis working to ensure justice to Kashmiris living under Indian military occupation.
